  • I thought you'd be the perfect candidate to enjoy dirty politics. It seems to be very well fitting with the capitalist, self serving version of (so called) individualism you often propose. You're saying here that it simply isn't worth it. But in today's all too capitalistic world, decency and moral value stand no chance against the opportunity to make money and gain power. And presidential politics are exactly about that. Are they not? Are you actually expecting those raised on the praise of cost-benefit "ideology" to prefer the measly benefits of being honest and sincere when something so much more tangible is at hand. Who ever wins will have everything. Power, money, sex… world domination... Isn’t that what cost-benefit (and capitalism) is all about?   p.s. If it isn't clear, this isn't meant as personal offense in any way. Just a critic of your pet economic-political view…
  • "Isn’t that what cost-benefit (and capitalism) is all about?", no in fact it isn't. Understanding that Capital represent the best effort of someone else work isn't a call for opportunism and corruption. However, it because Libertarianism recognized the temptations that involve in politics and governing, that it advocates to minimize the effect of the political system.

On the other hand we have great examples what happens when we ignore the fact that money represent labor and value, and removing the profit incentive. Washington DC schools system is a shining example. Although I admit that Venezuela socialistic heaven produce much cleaner politics and Zimbabwe's economy is the best argument against capitalism. And if we try not to be so extreme we can still wonder why so many people prefer not to be part of the French welfare state success...
